Former Abuja land manager arraigned for corruption

Abuja -? ?Muhammed Ishaq, the former Zonal Land Manager of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), will return to court next month to answer to corruption charges.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned him before Justice Bello Kawu of the Federal Capital Territory  High Court, sitting in Kubwa, Abuja on an 11-count charge.

The charge borders on criminal conspiracy, forgery, obtaining money by false pretence and abuse of office.

He is said to have benefitted to the tune of N5 million.

Ishaq, who is the principal suspect in the alleged fraud had, in 2015, allegedly approached one Ifeanyi Eke, claiming that he owned some plots of land, for which he was paid N5 million by Eke. ? ?

He has pleaded not guilty to the charges. ?

Justice Kawu has granted the accused person bail in the sum of N10 million with one surety in like sum.

 ?The case has been adjourned to February 17 for commencement of trial.
