Former militants declare no Niger Delta Republic

16 May 2016, 10:08

Bayelsa - A group of former militants declared yesterday there will never be a Niger Delta Republic as proposed by the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA).

According to the Sun News Online, The ex-militants also urged the NDA to stop hiding and come out publicly with its identity.

The National Coalition of Niger Delta Ex-Agitators, NCNDE-A, has accused former President Goodluck Jonathan of founding the new militant group known as Niger Delta Avengers, reported The Daily Post

National President of NCNDE-A, Israel Akpodoro, urged the former President to call members of the self acclaimed Niger Delta Avengers, NDA, to order.

Akpodoro said, “The Niger Delta Avengers is a creation of the ex-president aimed at thwarting any efforts made by successive administration especially that of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress, APC, administration.”

Just four days ago, the militant Niger Delta Avengers threatened further attacks against Chevron, the oil firm it attacked recently.

According to the Sun News Online, The group of former militants, under the aegis of the defunct Niger Delta Liberation Force (NDLF) warned that it would fight any attempt to plunge the region into crisis by the action of the NDA.
