France decries deadly Boko Haram insurgency

Lagos - France has expressed solidarity with the countries in the Lake Chad Basin after further terror attacks by Boko Haram, the Nigerian terror group.

Among such attacks the militant Islamic sect has carried out claimed at least 11 lives in Cameroon.

“France condemns deadly attacks in the night of 1 to 2 December in Waza, in northern Cameroon. We offer our condolences to the families of victims,” the French Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.

The European country, which itself suffered terror attacks recently, lauded Cameroon’s role in fighting the Boko Haram.

“France welcomes the firm commitment of Cameroon in the fight against terrorism and reaffirms its solidarity with the states of the Lake Chad Basin.”

The Boko Haram crisis has claimed more than 20 000 lives and displaced over 2 million mostly in Nigeria.
