FRSC records 36 auto crashes within one month in Edo

Benin - The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Edo said that it recorded 36 road traffic crashes in the state in January this year.

The Edo Sector Commander, Mr Oluwasusi Familoni told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Benin on Thursday that the number of road traffic accident recorded in January was the same with that recorded in December, 2015.

He, however, said that more deaths were recorded in January as 26 persons were killed, compared to 18 persons who died in auto crashes in December 2015.

He also said that while 102 persons were injured in the January auto crashes, 137 persons were injured in auto crashes that occurred in December 2015.

The Edo Sector commander attributed major causes of accidents in the state to speed limit violation and loss of control of vehicle.

Familoni further disclosed that 1, 391 offenders were booked for 1, 683 offences in the month of January, and that a total of 1, 242 vehicles were impounded during the same month.
