Fulani want to islamise eastern Nigeria - IPOB

01 May 2016, 14:21

Abuja – The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has said that its leader, the Director of Biafra Radio, Nnamdi Kanu predicted the recent killings of innocent people by herdsmen in south-eastern communities.

According to Vanguard, IPOB spokesperson, Emma Powerful, although Kanu had warned against the grave implications of Muhammadu Bunari’s presidency, many people did not take him seriously.

Powerful said this in a statement, adding that IPOB strongly criticized the attacks.

“The Fulani will take over the en¬tire south as a continuation of their age-long agenda to Islamize Eastern Nigeria. They will brazenly seize our land in pretence of creating grazing fields for the Fulani. Then the con¬quest will be complete, we will be¬come their serfs forever,” read part of the statement.

Fulani herdsmen on Monday killed over 20 people in Enugu state.

Over 100 armed cattle rearers stormed the community, killing indiscriminately and razing buildings in the process.

Prior to the attack, reports had indicated that the group of herdsmen had been recruiting gunmen from Nasarawa in preparation for the deadly ambush.

Many of the villagers escaped to the nearby Uzo-Uwani area, where many of the natives in the community are fearing for their safety in light of more attacks.
