Germany pledges more support to thwart Boko Haram

Abuja - An advisory team from Germany has pledged more support to the Nigerian Armed Forces in the fight against the Boko Haram insurgency.

The leader of the team, Col. Thomas Brillisauer, affirmed his country’s support during a courtesy call at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

Brillisauer said that the aim of the visit was to discuss new areas of support in the fight against insurgency in the country.

"Nigeria has been a reliable partner therefore there is the need to support her by prolonging and increasing the military relationship for the future of both countries," Brillisauer said .

He added that the German military are the sole trainers of the Armed Forces Electronic and Mechatronics Engineering (AFEME) Workshop and School.

Brillisauer described the engagement of the two countries as cordial.
