14 November 2015, 17:24

Gombe - A member of Gombe House of Assembly, Alhaji Mohammed Bello, on Saturday assisted 60 students in his constituency with N600,000.

Bello of the APC representing Gombe–South constituency, disbursed the fund through his foundation, known as “Sarkin Arewan Bolari Foundation”.

Presenting the money, Bello said that gesture was part of fulfilment of his campaign promises, adding that more students would also be assisted.

He called on the beneficiaries, who were mainly from less privileged homes, to make use of the money positively in pursuing their education.

The lawmaker also promised to introduce women empowerment programmes that would touch the lives of rural women positively.

Chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Kabiru Kukandaka, said that the gesture would impact positively on the lives of the students.

Kukandaka, former chairman of Gombe Local Government Council, called on the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money.

In his remarks, Coordinator of the Foundation, Malam Adamu Ahmed, said the lawmaker had rendered other assistance, including the securing of admission for students in his constituency.
