Abuja – The Plateau government headed by Governor Simon Lalong, recovered N2.7 billion in lost funds for state education which disappeared during the past administration.
Lalong made the disclosure at a session with Correspondents Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, as part of activities to mark his 53rd birthday in Jos on Thursday last week.
According to the Premium Times, the funds remained outstanding in the same SUBEB and assured all parties that the money will be completely recovered.
“We have done a lot of investigations and a lot of arrests have been made, some past government officials have been invited by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to make some clarifications,” he was quoted as saying.
In the interim, the Nigerian government has refused to issue the state of Plateau any additional funds for SMEs and has caused setbacks for educational officials in the state reported All Africa.
