Governor Mimiko's security aide shot dead

Ondo -  Suspected armed robbers Wednesday evening shot dead the Chief Security Officer of the  convoy of Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State, Idowu Oyewole, at his resident in Akure, the Ondo State capital, Punch reports.

The hoodlums numbering three was said to have shot Oyewole, a Deputy Superintendent of Police when he was at his house located at Akure -Owo road, with members of his family.

The police officer was said to be eating when the gunmen entered into their house at about 7pm according to the deceased’s son, Dare.

Dare narrated that his father was informed by one of the neighbours of the arrival of the bandits. He said his father brought out his service pistol and followed the neighbour to his apartment in order to send away the suspected hoodlums according to Newspoint.

He said the suspected robbers, on noticing his father coming exchanged gunshots with him, but the officer sustained injury and ran for his live.

It was gathered that the officer was not seen until Thursday morning when they found his lifeless body on the ground. He was said to have died as a result of the gunshot injury he sustained in the night.
