Abuja - Approximately 11 people lost their lives on Thursday after a commercial bus went up in flames on the Otedola Bridge in Lagos.
According to a Punch report, the inferno took place when one of the bus' tyres burst while it was going at high speed, causing the vehicle to somersault several times before catching alight.
The deceased, eight males and three females, were trapped in the bus as the blaze raged on, with officials from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and Fire Service battling to keep the inferno under control.

Three survivors were plucked from the wreckage and are currently being treated at the Accident and Emergency Unit at Toll Gate.
Michael Akindele, General Manager of LASEMA, has since confirmed the number of casualties, Daily Post reports.
SP Dolapo Badmos, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, has stated that the driver had survived the accident but fled the scene soon after.
