07 August 2016, 12:39

Yenagoa - Unknown gunmen have kidnapped Iti Watson, the father of the lawmaker representing Brass Constituency 2 in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Alfred Belimote Watson, reports The Nation.

The old man was whisked away at about 9 AM on Saturday while on his way to Egweama from Okpoama in Brass Local Government Area of the State.

It was learnt he was on his way to bury his late wife, Mrs Comfort Watson, when the gunmen attacked his speed boat and whisked him to an unknown destination.

Confirming the incident, the lawmaker asked the kidnappers to release his father unconditionally alleging that the abductors “were within.”

He vowed to pay no ransom to the abductors adding that efforts were being made to locate his father and the kidnappers.

Spokesman for Police in Bayelsa Butswat Asimin confirmed this in Yenagoa on Saturday, reports Vanguard.

Asimin said the police had mobilised to fish out the perpetrators.
