High ranking army officials planning to oust Buhari, militant groups claim

23 June 2016, 07:22

Abuja - The Joint Niger Delta Liberation Force(JNDLF) which consists of different militant groups has warned President Muhammadu Buhari that high ranking army officials were planning to overthrow his government, Naij reports.

The group when announcing this recently, disclosed that plans were being made to stage a coupe d'etat which would bring anarchy to the region.

The militants got wind of this when the high ranking army officials approached the militants to encourage them to continue with the bombings as it would cause more chaos in the Niger Delta region.

They also urged President Buhari to comply with the demands of the Niger Delta Avengers to not fix any damaged pipelines while the two parties were still holding talks.

News24 Nigeria previously reported that the FG however has called the demands by the NDA as unreasonable as Nigeria's economy depended heavily on the oil sector.
