House of Representatives reveal Buhari impeachment truth

18 July 2016, 08:20

Abuja - Alhaji Alhassan Doguwa has revealed the entire truth regarding a plot to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari saying that there is no evidence of an impeachable offence on the part of President Buhari, Naij reports.

News24 Nigeria reported that the impeachment attempt was a plot by some National Assembly members loyal to Senate President, Bukola Saraki over the alleged Senate forgery case.

Doguwa denied however that the House of Representatives ever contemplated an impeachment attempt against the president as there was no evidence of an impeachable offence.

"I want to be very straightforward with you that we don't have any such consideration to impeach President Buhari before us, that matter is not even being contemplated, it was not even at any point in time thought of," he said.

State governors elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) meanwhile have said Nigeria would resist any attempt to impeach President Buhari.

Chairman of the APC Governors Forum and Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues said Nigerians will give the Senate a similar treatment that was melted out to the coup plotters in Turkey.
