Abuja - Senate President, Bukola Saraki on Tuesday said he acquired 95% of his wealth before he entered politics.
He said his wealth is due to hard work and a result of him coming from a blessed family.
Saraki stated this an interview with the BBC Hausa Service monitored by News 24.
On his ongoing trial for false declaration of assets during his time as Governor of Kwara State, Saraki said he was confident that he would be cleared of the charges against him and he would continue to serve in public office.
He also said he had not evaded tax – an accusation highlighted in the Panama Paper,
The report in the Panama Papers alleged that at least four assets belonging to the Saraki family, tucked away in secret offshore territories, have been uncovered.
It alleged that the Senate President failed to declare them to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) as required by Nigerian laws
