Ijaw communities ordered to surrender pipeline bombing suspects

25 January 2016, 19:18

Delta -  The presidency has directed Ijaw communities in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State to surrender to the security operatives, perpetrators of the pipeline bomb attacks, Vanguard reports.

The presidential directive came through the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, on Sunday.

The presidency while explaining the massive presence of security agencies in the communities, said that the security operatives are there to ensure that the suspects are arrested and also secure the pipelines.

It enjoined the leaders of the communities to hand over the suspects as this will demonstrate patriotism on the part of the communities.

Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity dismissed a suggestion made by Ijaw leader Chief Edwin Clark, claiming that officials under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari were harassing Ijaw people.
