Indicted judge shuns EFCC summons

20 October 2016, 11:53

Abuja - One of the judges being investigated by the the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegations of corruption, Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, has refused to report to the anti-graft agency, Premium Times reports.

Ofili-Ajumogobia had been billed to report to the EFCC on Monday but the agency said she was absent and was yet to report to the commission.

Five judges have reported to the EFCC’S office since Monday as investigation into alleged corruption in the judiciary continues.

Mohammed Yunusa and Nganjiwa Hyeladzira were at EFCC on Monday while Musa Kurya reported on Tuesday.

James Agbadu-Fishim and Uwani Abba-Aji were on Wednesday at the Commission’s office sequel to a letter of invitation from the agency.

Last March, the National Judicial Commission barred Mrs. Ofili-Ajumogobia from further elevation on the bench till retirement after she was found to have failed to deliver judgement in a pre-election matter that began in 2011. One week later, she was transferred to the Ilorin Division of the Federal High Court.

The full list of top Nigerian judges under investigation by security agencies across the country was released last week according to News24.
