25 March 2016, 19:28

Dutse - The Jigawa Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) said it had deployed over 1000 personnel to beef up security during the Easter celebrations in the state.

The NSCDC Commandant in the state, Malam Muhammad Gidado, told newsmen on Friday in Dutse that the gesture was to ensure hitch-free celebrations.

Gidado charged the personnel to discharge their duties diligently and professionally.

He said that the personnel would be stationed at strategic locations across major towns in the state to monitor activities in public places, including churches and children parks.

The commandant also enjoined people to be law abiding and security conscious at all times particularly during the festivities.

He appealed to motorists to cooperate with the NSCDC and other security personnel on duty during the period to avert crashes on
the roads.

According to him, the corps would not relent in its efforts at providing security to lives and property in the state.
