Jigawa travelers struggle against fuel scarcity

24 December 2015, 09:08

Abuja - Citizens traveling out of Jigawa State have a tough road to travel, as fuel scarcity cripples motorists, Vanguard reports.

Long queues of vehicles have been observed around filling stations, with some motorists going as far as sleeping at petrol stations in order to secure fuel.

The price of fuel in the state has also plagued travelers, with some filling stations selling petrol at N350 per liter, while the black market is cashing in by selling four liters at a hefty N1,400 as opposed to the recommended N600.

The number of passengers traveling this year has also reduced, with some transporters upping their fare by up to 70 per cent.

Overloading of vehicles has also been reported as a result of the tough times facing the state.
