Kano shuts down 50 strip clubs

Kano - The Kano State Film Censorship Board has closed down about 50 strip clubs and 100 game clubs due to underage prostitution taking place in these establishments  and the increasing number of truancy among children, Premium Times reports.

The executive secretary of the board, Ismail Afakallah, said that apart from underage prostitution, some of the girls have been impregnated by clients and club staff and then abandoned.

Stating a case of two teenage girls who were impregnated in one of the houses.

He said the government took the decision to ensure that the state was free of vices that corrupt the morals of the society.

Commenting on the closure of the game centres, Afakallah said the addictive tendencies of the game clubs encourage theft and truancy among pupils and students.
