09 February 2016, 20:36

Abuja - The Federal High Court of Abuja has rejected the application by the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra and founder of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, of the release of his passport and money, Punch reported.

The items are in custody of the Department of State Service and they were not listed as exhibits that would be tendered.

Justice James Tsoho dismissed the application made by Kanu's lawyer who had sought the release of of the items.

Tsoho stated in court that the dismissal was because of the application lacking facts.

Kanu is being prosecuted on six counts of treasonable felony, unlawful possession of firearms and other offences bordering on the agitation for the secession of the Republic of Biafra from Nigeria.

He will remain behind bars as he was denied bail and will remain on remand pending on the period of the trial.
