Kashamu seeks Senate cover over fresh extradition plot

Abuja - Senator Buruji Kashamu has raised an alarm over fresh plots to extradite him to the United States over issues bordering on drug trafficking, reports The Nation.

Kashamu had written a petition to the Senate. on the matter.

Speaking when he appeared before the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions on Wednesday, Kashamu said the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) had gone far in fresh plans to extradite him.

Kashamu, who spoke through his lawyer Ajibola Oluyede. said the fresh plot to abduct him by unknown agents was revealed to him through a text message by an informant in the NDLEA

Oluyede stated that the plot was to kidnap Kashamu or if abduction failed to shoot him.

He said  the text massage was so credible that they have no alternative than to seek protection from the Senate.

The committee after hearing Kashamu’s pleas decided to invite the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami on the matter.
