Kerosene to now sell at N150/litre - NNPC

08 August 2016, 07:23

Abuja - The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has announced the introduction of a newly-fixed rate for the sale of kerosene across the country, Naij reports.

According to Alhaji Tokunbo Korodo, leader of the south Nigeria Union for Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), the new price is set to encourage more importation of the product.

"The NNPC has fixed N150 per litre as the new depot price of kerosene and has directed all its depots and private depot to comply with the directive.

"The advantage of this is that it will open door for more marketers to commence importation of kerosene just like petrol," Korodo said, Vanguard reports.

The announcement follows a statement released by the Emir of Kano, revealing that the payment of a fuel subsidy was an opportunity to enrich a few people at the expense of the nation.
