Kidnapped Ekiti INEC secretary regains freedom

Osogbo - The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the release of the Administrative Secretary of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ekiti State, Muslim Omoleke, who was kidnapped by some gunmen in the state on Thursday.

The Commissioner of Police in Osun State,  Fimihan Adeoye confirmed the release on Friday, reports Punch.

The CP said, “I am happy to let you know that the gentleman has been freed and united with his family.”

Adeoye did not give details of how Omoleke was freed but said the command would soon issue a statement on the incident.

Omoleke was kidnapped at Iwaraja community, near Ilesa in Osun State on Thursday.

He was said to have been driven away into the forest of Ijesaland by his abductors, together with his son and driver in his official car.

The abductors later released Omoleke’s son and the driver, along with the car.

Omoleke was returning to Ekiti State from official visits to Ondo and Osun States when he was abducted.
