Abuja - The killer of Kano-based business tycoon and Yoruba leader, Alhaji Ganyiu Akanbi Bello, has been sentenced to death by hanging in a Kani High Court.

According to a Punch report, Abubakar Abdulrahama, commonly known as Daddy, was found guilty on a count of culpable homicide after he allegedly entered the home of the deceased and stabbed him in the heart with a kitchen knife.

While making his plea, the accused is reported to have begged the court for mercy due to the existence of his aged mother, wife and children.

In his final verdict the judge stated that the accused deserves no mercy after having committed a capital offence by murdering the breadwinner of a family.

The accused has 30 days in which to appeal the court's decision, Sahara Reporters has confirmed.
