Lagos - The Lagos State High Court has sentenced
one Ike Chukwu Meregina to three years imprisonment for fraud amounting to $45
000 (N14,16 million).
He was sentenced after appearing before Justice Kudirat
The convict was arraigned in May 2015 on two-count charge
bordering on obtaining money under false pretence brought against him by the
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
A petitioner, S Securities Bureau De Change Limited, had
entered into a foreign exchange transaction with the convict with an

Meregini allegedly issued a post- dated cheque to the
petitioner and when it was presented, it was returned unpaid.
He pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge and the matter
went into full trial.
