Lagos man rapes Facebook lover at first meeting

21 December 2015, 08:53

Abuja - A 26-year-old Lagos resident has been accused of rape after he allegedly lured his Facebook lover to his apartment to give her money, Punch has reported.

Taiwo Oluwatobi, the accused, is believed to have met the victim, identified only as Temitope (24), on Facebook. It is alleged that Oluwatobi lured Temitope to his residents in the Yaba LGA of the state, in order to give her N15,000 that was promised to her.

The victim, a printer in the Mushi LGA, is alleged to have met Oluwatobi on Facebook in June of this year. She also alleged that he had agreed to lend her N15,000 after she revealed that she was in desperate need of the funds.

The victim disclosed that she reported the matter to the Anti-Robbery Squad of the State Department of Criminal Investigation in Yaba following the incident, which took place on November 30.

Oluwatobi, a graduate from Oyo University, was since arrested on last week Tuesday. He has also claimed that any sexual activity between him and the victim was consensual.

Adenuga Adedayo, a friend of the accused who owns the apartment where the rape allegedly took place, was also implicated in the incident. He has since claimed that he has no knowledge of the alleged rape.
