Lawmaker distributes N5.5m to youths for businesses

Daura - Malam Nasir Yahaya, a member of Katsina State House of Assembly, representing Daura Constituency, has distributed over N5.5 million to youths to set up small scale businesses.

Yahaya, who disbursed the funds in Daura on Sunday, said the money was to complement efforts of the state government in reducing poverty among the citizenry.

He said the beneficiaries were selected from 10 wards, adding that they would be trained on how to utilise the amount given to them.

"We plan to train all the beneficiaries to ensure the money given to them was not diverted to other purposes," he said.

Yahaya called on the beneficiaries to participate in the training programme, to improve their skill in management of resources.

The lawmaker gave assurance that he would soon introduce new programmes to minimise poverty and enhance the living standards of the people in his constituency.

Yahaya advised unemployed youths to also utilise the Katsina State Craft Village, to learn trades that would assist them to become self-reliant.
