Abuja - The Member representing Barkin Ladi
and Riyom Constituency in the House of Representatives, Istifanus Gyang, has
condemned the fresh attacks on local communities in Plateau State.
At least 19 people have been killed and more injured during
communal clashes in Gwoll Hoss and Kwatta communities of Riyom and Jos South
Local Government Areas.
Gyang lawmaker said it was unfortunate that these attacks
came at a time when the security situation in the general area had stabilized.
“It is with a heavy heart that I received the sad news of
renewed attacks which occurred simultaneously on Sunday night in which over 19
persons were killed and many more sustained injuries of varying degrees and are
now receiving medical attention.

“It is rather unfortunate that these dastardly attacks
are coming at a time when peace was being celebrated in our communities. I
condemn the attacks in strong terms and state emphatically that we will not
relent on our quest and prayer for peace,” Gyang said.
He appealed to traditional, religious and community
leaders to remain committed to the process of restoring peace to the area.
Gyang also called on the Special Task Force (STF) to
sustain their efforts in putting end to the attacks.
“I also appeal to the security team under the STF not to
be deterred by this setback but sustain their efforts at putting an end to such
attacks and bloodshed,” Gyang said.
