21 July 2016, 08:52

Uyo - Akwa Ibom Police have apprehended one Joseph James for allegedly killing his four years old daughter, Glory, and throwing the corpse in a stream.

Commissioner of Police in the State, Murtala Mani, represented by the command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Cordelia Nwawe, made this known at a news conference in Uyo on Wednesday.

"The suspect said something within him pushed him to take his daughter to the stream on the fateful night and got her drowned. Strange voice told him to take the girl to the stream."

"I woke from sleep around 4 a.m., something told me to take my daughter to the stream where I killed and put her inside the water. I did not know what really happened," the suspect allegedly said.

The commissioner said the suspect would be arraigned after investigation. James, 30, hails from Ibiaku Ikot Udom in Ibiono Ibom LGA.

The police also arrested one Victor Andang from Urue Offong Oruko LGA, for allegedly killing his 60 years old uncle, Reverend Esin Andang.

The commissioner said "the suspect opened Andang’s bowel and removed the intestine."

The suspect told newsmen that he did not intend to kill his uncle.

"I cannot tell what got into me to make me murder my uncle."

The police said four suspects were arrested from Eyo Abasi in Oron LGA with human skull within the week.

According to the police, they were apprehended by a youth leader at Uko Ntighe in Mbo LGA while looking for buyer of human skull at the cost of N3, 000.

The commissioner warned criminals to repent and desist from criminal activities, emphasising that the state will no longer be conducive for criminals.
