Melaye was reacting to Tinubu writing the Acting Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, requesting police protection against Senator Melaye saying that her life was now in danger following alleged threats made against her, as News24 Nigeria reported.
Melaye threatened to beat Senator Tinubu during the executive session of
the Senate after she disagreed with comments made by Melaye who
insisted that the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami,
must be brought before the Senate to be thoroughly grilled and
humiliated for charging the Senate leadership with forgery in court. She added that Melaye had a penchant for violence as he had engaged in fisticuffs with his colleagues when he was in the House of Representatives between 2007 and 2011.
Melaye recently also dared supporters of Bola Tinubu, who told him not to come to Lagos state. Melaye posted pictures of himself walking on Bourdillion in Ikoyi, an area regarded as Tinubu's territory, on his social media page.
He also posted tweets of his visit on Twitter saying "Dino on bourdillon street in Lagos now, walking down the street. Waiting for noise makers. Eyin da?"
