Lagos - The European branch of the Indigenous
People of Biafra (IPOB) has dismissed claims by the Movement for the
Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) the latter’s leader, Nnamdi Kanu, had renounced
IPOB in exchange for his freedom.
IPOB Europe executive, Chika Edoziem, dismissed such claims,
denouncing MEND as “a group of merchants whose stock in trade is to sell the
birth right of the Biafran people in the mainland and the riverine areas for a
pot of porridge.”
He expressed surprise at claims IPOB would “throw its honor
to the dogs by allowing itself and its honorable objective of securing the
freedom of the Biafran people be tainted by group of murderers and self

“IPOB is a movement propelled by a clear ideology and the
quest for the restoration of the sovereignty of Biafran Nation,” said Edoziem.
He said it was “obvious” from the recent claim by MEND it
had no clue of what IPOB under the leadership of “Kanu is all about.
“We are not a secret society. Transparency is our watchword
we do not enter into secret agreements or negotiations with acclaimed criminals
and enemies of the Biafran people.”
Kanu has been detained since late 2015 for "criminal
conspiracy, intimidation and membership of an illegal organization.”
