Mob burns wanted rapist in Lagos

24 July 2016, 12:03

Abuja - A gang member believed to have raped several women in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State has allegedly been burnt to death by an angry mob, Punch reports.

The gang leader, commonly known as Badoo, is alleged to have been involved in a syndicate responsible for the rape of several people in the area, with aggrieved community residents claiming that a man who had previously been arrested for the crime was not the real Badoo.

The rapist is believed to have made his way into the Celestial Church of Christ in Itesiwaju before abducting an 8-year-old, raping her into a coma at the back of the church and fleeing the scene.

Badoo is believed to have been on the hunt for yet another victim when he was apprehended by the mob who then stripped him, beat him and set him ablaze.

Police officials have since condemned the mob justice, claiming that perpetrators of such violence would not go unpunished.
