More evidence against Metuh provided in court

Abuja - Economic and Financial Crimes Commission witnesses in the trial of National Spokesperson of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh, reported receiving payment from the politician to carry out media campaigns for the party.

Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, a public relations consultant who is a fifth witness, told the Federal High Court in Abuja, he was paid a total sum of N77 million by the second defendant, Destra Investment Limited, to carry out media campaigns for Metuh’s party.

Destra Investment Limited is Metuh’s company.

Documents in support of his claim including documents containing evidence of payments for different placements of advertorials of PDP in various media were tendered and admitted as exhibits.

Another witness (sixth), Kabiru Ibrahim, a Bureau de Change operator, told the court that he was given the sum of $1 million to change and pay into the account of Destra Investment Limited, a sum whose naira equivalent amounted to N103 million.

Justice Okon Abang has deferred the trial to February 4.

Metuh is under trial alleged money laundering.

He allegedly received N400 million from former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (Rtd), who is also being tried for laundering $2,1 billion meant for procurement of arms for the Army.
