Abuja - Despite harsh criticism regarding his comments about his wife, President Muhammadu Buhari has insisted that he stands behind his words.
According to a Punch report, Buhari made his utterances in a follow-up interview with Deutsche-Welle’s Phil Gayle before leaving Berlin on Sunday.
In the interview, Buhari reiterates that his wife looks after the house and exists to look after him.

In addition, Buhari stated his belief that his wife should not get herself involved in politics but should stick to her traditional role as a homebody instead.
Buhari's insistence comes in stark contrast to the position of his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, who claimed that the President was merely joking when he took the swipe at his wife, Aisha.
Responding to the First Lady's explosive interview with the BBC's Hausa service, Buhari previously stated that he didn't know which party his wife belongs to but "I know she belongs to the kitchen, living room and other room".
