Security operatives, mainly the Nigerian Police were however drafted to the area in a bid to maintain law and order.

Meanwhile the Senate on Tuesday returned the list of the  non-career ambassadorial nominees sent to it by President Muhammadu Buhari for confirmation and approval according to News24.

The Senate rejected the list because its composition ran foul of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).

The Senate urged Buhari to resubmit the list at a later date.
