Navy arrests 4 cattle rustlers, recovers 95 cows in Kaduna

28 October 2016, 06:27

Kachia - The Commandant of the Nigerian Navy School of Armament Technology, Commodore Timothy Dakwat, said on Thursday that the command arrested four cattle rustlers and recovered 95 cows from them.

Dakwat made this known to newsmen at a public presentation of the suspects and the cows in Kachia local government area of Kaduna.

He said the suspects were arrested on October 21 and 22 following an intelligent report on activities of the rustlers.

"Acting on a tip off on their activities at Apele village, near Gurara Dam in Kachia LGA, we swung into action which led to the arrest of the rustlers, recovery and evacuation of the cows."

According to him, there was exchange of fire between the security operatives and the rustlers before we overpowered the bandits.

"The main kingpin is still at large but we will trail him and make sure that he faces the law."

The commandant said the success of the raid was the collective effort of the security operatives, under Kaduna State coordinated security outfit, "Operation Yaki".

"After investigation, we will hand over the suspects and the cows to the appropriate authority," Dakwat said.

He said that the command was committed to flushing out criminals in the state.

The commandant urged the public to support the command with useful information to curtail activities of hoodlums in the state.
