New Boko Haram leader accuses Shekau of killing fellow Muslims

05 August 2016, 14:01

Abuja - Newly appointed Boko Haram leader Abu Musab al-Barnawi, has accused deposed leader Abubakar Shekau of violating Islamic tenets by killing fellow Muslims, including members of the terrorist Islamist group.

al-Barnawi accused Shekau of living a life of luxury with his wives, neglecting starving women and children, and failing to provide food and weapons for insurgent fighters.

He issued an audio statement attacking Abubakar Shekau, who for six years had served as the voice and face of the deadly Islamist group based in northeast Nigeria.

“We are here to send a message across to Shekau who had released his own cassette and we tag our own ‘REVELATION," al-Barnawi said in his long audio remark obtained by SaharaReporters.

The shadowy leader anointed by ISIS spoke in a rambling and caustic manner, addressing his critical remarks at Shekau. Accusing the famously mercurial Shekau of liking to expose other people, al-Barnawi said, “We will also expose him.”

The new ISIS-backed leader stated that the time had ended when Mr. Shekau could “appear and say whatever he likes, whether true or false. Everyone must listen and say Imam has spoken, but today it is over.”

The ISIS-endorsed leader warned, “Anyone that challenge us, we will also challenge and change from his falsehood. Islam did not belong to your father or mother neither did it belong to our mother or our father. Islam belongs to Allah and no single man can claim sole ownership of Islam.”
