26 August 2016, 14:47

Abuja - It has emerged that new Boko Haram leader has been announced and is Abu Musab Al-Barnawi according to ISIS, Naij reported.

The new leader is said to be the son of Boko Haram founder, Mohammed Yusuf, who died in policy custody on 2009 during a military crackdown.

The decision to appoint Barnawi was opposed by long-time chief, Abubakar Shekau.

Shekau is alleged to have had wanted Barnawi to be the next leader because of the circle of trust they have for each other.

Barnawi made his first public appearing during a video that was posted in 2015, where Boko Haram had claimed an attack in Baga.

According to MSN, Shekau brutal leadership style and killing top commanders who disagree with him is the reasons behind the appointment of Barnawi.
