New militant group threatens to attack Imo govt

Imo - It is alleged that a new militant group called the Niger Delta Red Squad are threatening to attack Imo State government oil facilities, Vanguard reported.

This comes after days it allegedly hit a facility operated by Shell Petroleum Development Company.

The militant group states that ever since oil companies started operating in the 1950's, they people have not benefited. The group alleges that there is no electricity, roads are tarred and there is no employment.

The group has threatened to blow up more oil facilities in the region if the state does not give them what they want.

Waltersmith Petroleum Oil has been the latest company to receive such threats from the militant group.

Naij reports that the militant group has already claimed attacks on two oil facilities and is prepared to launch more attacks.
