15 July 2016, 19:00

Abuja - The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Task Force Division in the Nigeria Army, Brig. Gen. Ali Nani, has pledged to intensify the war against the Boko Haram.

Nani takes over from the outgoing Acting GOC, Brig Gen. Chukwuemeka Okonkwo, who was re-assigned on Thursday.

The incoming GOC commended his predecessor for steering the affairs of the division in its fight to crush terrorists and insurgents out of Borno State.

He also appealed to officers and soldiers of the division to work as a family and endeavour to render useful advice to him.

Nani said this would enable him serve them and the Nigeria Army effectively by way of giving him maximum cooperation towards achieving the set goals and objectives of establishing the division.

“Achieving the desired results will only be possible with troops’ commitment, professionalism and hard work while executing their assigned tasks,” said Nani.

He pledged to work with partners to flush the remnants of Boko Haram insurgents in the terror-prone Borno State and the Northeast at large.
