Delta - Militant group, Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) blew up the Qua Iboe crude oil terminal operated by ExxonMobil, Thisday reports.
Security sources early this morning said that the militants stormed the terminal at about 7.30 p.m and bombed the terminal with dynamites.
Qua Iboe is Nigeria’s largest crude oil stream and exports usually more than 300 000 barrels per day.
Reports suggest that Nigeria may be losing about N2.79 billion daily as a result of the bombing.
Exxon Mobil Corp however denied on Tuesday that any of its facilities was attacked and destroyed by the militants.
“There were no attacks on our facilities,” said Exxon Mobil spokesman Todd Spitler.
This is happening two days after another Niger Delta militant group, The Niger Delta Red Square announced the end of a two-week ceasefire while warning the Imo State government that their next phase of attacks would take the state by storm.
The group through a statement posted on their Facebook account threatened that the state and Nigeria will be shocked by their next attack while promising to show the country the deadliest side of the militancy.
