Niger Delta Minister lauds action against touts

Abuja - The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani Uguru, has welcomed moves by the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) to rid the public motor parks of touts.

He gave the commendation during a meeting with members of the agency paid him a visit at his Abuja offices.

“When touting is encouraged, people suffer damages, so your offer to rid our motor parks of them is commendable,” Uguru said.

He meanwhile welcomed the administration’s fight against corruption.

“All of us are victims of corruption, so the posture of this administration is not targeted at anybody. We should all join the campaign against it,” said Uguru.

RTEAN President, Musa Shehu Isiwele, said in an effort to enhancing service-delivery and ensuring safety and security of Nigerians in the Transport sub-sector of the economy, the association would embark on the construction of modern motor parks.

He said these would be equipped with modern facilities.

Isiwele said RTEAN was working in partnership with the Federal Government to service and maintain the vehicles in its fleet.
