Obanikoro returns N100 million to EFCC

Abuja- A former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, has returned N100 million to the Nigerian government, reports Premium Times.

Obanikoro is being interrogated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for N4.745billion wired to a company by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

The money was sourced from the $2.1billion meant for arms purchase by ONSA.

Upon interrogation, Obanikoro agreed to returned N100m out of the money

The EFCC chairman, Ibrahim Magu,,however, rejected the  offer and asked for more return by the embattled former minister

Magu, sources said, demanded that the former senator sign an undertaken to pay back N600 million within a stipulated time.

The former minister rejected the demands, saying he had no means of raising such an amount.

The EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed that Obanikoro had indeed returned some money.

He, however, said the EFCC was still verifying the payments and continuing its investigation.
