“Obasanjo is ignorant of Biafra” – MASSOB

19 January 2016, 08:50

Lagos – The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has responded to Obasanjo’s claim that Biafra was a dead issue.

Today reported that Samuel Edeson, the Director of Information for MASSOB, had reacted to Obasanjo’s comments by saying that Biafra was not dead, and would not die.

He also said that Obasanjo did not understand the issues that Biafra face and what they are fighting for.

Obasanjo presented a paper in Abuja, titled ‘Resurgent Biafra Agitation: Born in Error, Ignorance and Frustration’ where he told the public that they should not take Biafra seriously and called it a ‘hopeless and futile exercise’.

Edelson stated in his statement that during his time as the nation’s president, Obasanjo tried to destroy the pro-Biafra group.

He said that the group managed to survive the killing of over 1000 MASSOB members in Imo State in 2003 under Obasanjo’s administration.

Edelson noted the group’s intention to take Obasanjo to the International Criminal Court (ICC) for the death of their members.
