29 December 2015, 14:01

Minna - A gas explosion has left one person dead and two others injured in Minna, the state capital of Niger state, Channelstv reports.

The deceased, an attendant identified as Sani Adewale was killed in the incident that occurred around 11.30am when he was trying to refill a gas cylinder.

The body, suspected to be the owner of the shop, was found mutilated on the floor of the shop with two other people also injured.

The gas shop, located near a second generation bank, had just opened for the day’s business when neighbours heard a loud explosion.

It took the combined efforts of the Police and Fire Service, including the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Niger State Emergency Management Authority (NSEMA) to extinguish the resultant fire outbreak.

A combined security team also arrived the scene and condoned off the part of the dual carriage Bosso road under Chanchaga Local Government Area of the state.

This is coming a few days after over 100 people were burnt to death on Christmas eve in an explosion at an industrial gas plant in Nnewi, Anambra state.
