Operation Lafiye Dole restructures

Abuja - The Defence Headquarters has announced the appointment Major General Hassan Umoru as the new Theatre Commander of the Operation Lafiya Dole.

Major General Lucky Irabor has been appointed the Deputy Theatre Commander of this operation, which is involved in operations to rid the country of the Boko Haram.

Officials said the appointments would reposition the unit for more efficiency and effectiveness.

Until his appointment, General Umoru was the General Officer Commanding, 3 Division Nigerian Army.

The changes are part of the reorganisation by the Defence Headquarters in line with the force restructuring of its operations to attain the overall objectives of the Chief of Defence Staff.?

The aim of this new development is to restrategise and inject new tactics to the existing operational procedures with the aim of finally knocking out the terrorists.

"?Operation Lafiya Dole will continue to be responsive until all elements of terrorists are finally crushed," Brigadier General Rabe Abubakar, Army Acting Director Defence Information?, said.
