Outspoken Abubakar in sidelines despite suspension lapse

15 April 2016, 21:32

Abuja - Youth in the Mubi South Local Government Area of Adamawa State have appealed for lifting of the suspension of the legislator representing the constituency, Abdulrahman Abubakar.

The youths have appealed to the Speaker of Adamawa House of Assembly, Kabiru Mijinyawa, to lift the suspension.

“We urged the Speaker to realize that now is the time to display the independence of the legislative arm by acting in line with the popular wish of the majority lawmakers and people of Mubi South who elected Abubakar to represent them,” the Concerned Youths stated.

“The Chief whip of the House, Honourable Barguma has already announced to the world in media interview that the house has cleared Abubakar and was just waiting for the Speaker for the final order which we feel should never be a problem to the house if it want the electorate to take the independence of its leadership from outside influence seriously." the statement said.

Abubakar, whose three months suspension has recently elapsed, was suspended for alleged improper dressing and criticising the house approval of the house approval of virement, the process of transferring items from one financial account to another, for the executive in 2015 budget.
