Overseas scholars grateful for Kano support

Abuja -  Kano State-sponsored students studying in Cyprus and Turkey have appreciated the Governor Abdullah Umar Ganduje for financing their studies despite economic depression.

The students who are currently at the Fatih University, Istanbul , Turkey and Near East University, Northern Cyprus presented a plaque to the governor at their campuses.

This is in recognition of his selfless service and contributions to educational development and humanity.

The award has been presented to the governor's Special Adviser on Education, Bakeri Ado Hussaini, who led five-member government technical team for a visit to the schools.

Bello said the delegation was in Turkey and Cyprus in order to meet the students, teachers and management of their institutions  for on- the -spot assessment of the students' academic performances and personal conduct.

He added that the state  government was generating data on each student in order to develop a platform for  the assessment  of  individual academic performance and personal  conducts.

Bello said the team was currently in Indian for the second leg of the assignment.
