PDP assures Muslim faithful of safety in Rivers

13 September 2016, 19:00

Abuja - Governor Nyesom Wike remains committed to the protection of lives and properties of everyone living and doing business in the Rivers State, the People’s Democratic Party said.

Felix Obuah, PDP Rivers chair, as he joined the Muslim faithful in celebrating Eld-El-Kabir, said Wike was committed to safety without any form of discrimination based on religious or political affiliation.

Obuah wished Muslim believers a peaceful and successful celebration, believing that they would take advantage of the conducive environment and peaceful disposition of the Rivers State Government under Wike to conduct themselves peacefully in accordance with the tenets of Islam.

“Bro. Obuah therefore, appeals to them to continue to pray for the success of the administration of Governor Nyesom Wike and to be agents of peace, as well as pray for the unity of the nation,” said Jerry Needam, Obuah’s spokesperson, said.

Contrary to PDP’s position on security in the state, the rival All Progressives Congress believes the state is volatile.

It blames Wike for the tensions.
