PDP kicks against moves to recover $31m from Edo ex-governor

06 November 2015, 14:29

Benin - Edo State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party has reacted to the state government’s moves to recover $31million, among others, from a former governor of the state and his associates, by accusing the state government of squandering over N1trillion allegedly received from the federation account from 2008 till date on perceived overpriced legacy projects, Punch reports.

The Edo State Government on Wednesday said that it had begun moves to recover $31m which it said was allegedly “fraudulently taken” from the government coffers, during the administration of former Governor Lucky Igbinedion.

Special Adviser to Governor Adams Oshiomhole on Media Affairs, Prince Kassim Afegbusa, however, ask the PDP hawks to go and borrow their own money too, if it is that easy to extract loan commitment from the World Bank.

He said the state government would commence a legal action against the former governor’s administration, in order to recover what had been taken from the government coffers.
